How do I care for exterior paintwork?

The cleaner you can keep your exterior paintwork, the longer it will last avoid cleaning with detergents, however until at least 4 weeks after application to ensure the paint has cured. Wash down the paintwork every four months to remove dirt, salt, cobwebs that might attack the painted surface. If the property is on a busy road or near the coast, you should wash down the paintwork more frequently.

Is there a difference between a painter, a painting contractor or a painter and decorator?

No. All of these terms are used to describe the trade of painting. Often a painter and decorator may include colour consultation but it generally just applies to the painting trade itself.
